Serving the mostly rural, desert community of Klamath County, HDH’s teams of nurses, aides, spiritual care and social workers and volunteers cover a territory over seventy miles in diameter, making hundreds of visits per week to provide hospice care to their community.
High Desert Hospice was founded in 2005 by Barbara Golden, in response to Klamath Falls’ need for high-quality, locally owned hospice. In 2012, Barb was awarded the Chamber of Commerce’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award in recognition for her excellent work in hospice operations. HDH joined the Inspiring Hospice Group in 2015 and enriches the group with its huge heart for patients, a love for the hospice family, and a directness in its dealings with those it encounters.
Since the establishment of its partnership with IHG, High Desert Hospice has received FAZZI’s Excellence Award for scoring in the top 25% of all hospices in the nation for caregiver satisfaction. By its twelfth anniversary in 2018, High Desert Hospice had served and cared for over 1,900 patients, and had attained 3-star “We Honor Veterans” program status for its work in Veteran-oriented care. Today, High Desert Hospice offers a collective seventy years of hospice experience to the community through its team. Its Foundation is proud to augment the work of the hospice through charitable services to the community. High Desert Hospice looks forward to a long and fruitful future in Klamath County.

The establishment of Inspiring Hospice Partners of Georgia in 2017 was the realization of the dream of IHG’s founder, Steve Morris, to return Inspiring Hospice care to the South. Athens, GA was where Steve’s healthcare career began in 2006, and he established and operated his first hospice program in Georgia many years ago. “IHG was thrilled to have an opportunity to develop a program in the South. Athens-Oconee feels like home to us, and we look forward to a long and happy future providing the very best hospice care throughout Northeast Georgia.”
Though Northeast Georgia is a newer program, its team possesses a wealth and depth of healthcare experience; our team members come not just from hospice, but from backgrounds as diverse as emergency rooms, burn units, schools, public health and the military. This rich experience and the love of our professionals for this community – in most cases, their home community – makes our team uniquely qualified to bring the highest level of hospice care to Northeast Georgia. Working in conjunction with our hospice Foundation, Inspiring also brings an elevated level of care to those we serve in Georgia through charitable giving, bereavement services and unique programs like our annual Butterfly Release and the Butterfly Hearts art gifts. We are proud to be here, serving the South.

By its 11th anniversary in 2018, had provided hospice care to almost 2,000 Gorge citizens. The challenge of providing in-home hospice care throughout a rural territory with such a rugged terrain is heightened by the annual threat of forest fires and severe winter weather. The Heart of Hospice team is a fiercely determined, fiercely dedicated one when it comes to caring for its patients and caregivers.
Heart of Hospice joined the Inspiring Hospice Group in 2015 and has flourished. One-third of its team members have been employed here longer than five years – an impressive retention rate in healthcare, and a testament to the loyalty between Heart of Hospice and its team. Excellent care is a way of life here: Heart of Hospice is an annual recipient, since 2016, of FAZZI’s Excellence Award for scoring in the top 25% of all hospices in the nation on its CAHPS caregiver satisfaction survey results.
